This Bulletin unpacks the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) September 2024 quarterly productivity statistics release and examines trends and new developments underlying Australia’s productivity performance.

Labour productivity growth has reverted to the same stagnant pattern as before the COVID-19 pandemic. Labour productivity fell in the June 2024 quarter (an increase of 0.5% over the 12 months to June) as output growth was outpaced by strong growth in hours worked.
